One million pounds for UK local e-democracy

Griff Wigley has reposted the E-Government Bulletin's scoop that the UK government plans to provide another million pounds in funding for its local e-democracy project. Apparently it's the only one of 22 current local e-government projects to receive this kind of continued support.

The project's pilot projects to date have included a forum for young people to talk with local representatives, online petitions and online and mobile phone games to encourage local participation. The project also sponsored a collection of international case studies compiled by fellow CivicMinded blogger Steve Clift.

Congratulations to Steve and the rest of the UK local e-democracy team on this great news. I look forward to seeing what they can do with the next million pounds!
